Greetings from the LACCC 2016 Chair
“If you can dream it, you can do it”
– Walt Disney.
I would like to start with a few words of appreciation to the Latin-American community in the greater Charlotte area and all the incredible support and dedication to the Chamber and our programs and activities. Your contributions have made the Chamber grow significantly in this past year. We, at the Latin American Chamber of Commerce, want to recognize these efforts by re-affirming our commitment to the Latino business community in the Carolinas into 2016.
In 2000, Hispanic/Latinos accounted for only 4.71 percent of the N.C. population. By 2010 the percentage was 8.39, making the state’s rate of Hispanic growth sixth-fastest in the nation. Today, the data reflects that Charlotte is one of the fastest growing Hispanic Markets in the U.S. Charlotte’s growth is in the range of 168% with Raleigh falling right behind with a growth of 139%.
Our goals remain the same into 2016:
– Provide Charlotte’s growing Hispanic business community with award-winning networking, educational and recruiting opportunities, and
– continue to be the first choice for large and small companies who wish to connect and grow with our thriving Latin American commerce in the area.
If we are able to attain 10% more funding from our current sponsors and garner more participation by adding some new ones, we will be assured that we can remain as Charlotte’s premier choice for the Latino Community.
Want to wish all the best to each of you in this 2016 and look forward to working with everyone in the region to foster our mutual growth. Please do not hesitate to contact any of us on the Board as communication is the fundamental building block to everyone’s success.
