Martin Flores is Director of Architecture, Store Planning & Design for Belk Department Stores. His focus in this role is in the design development, construction documents and construction oversight of all of Belk’s new store and major renovations across their 16 state footprint. In addition to this, he also serves as Chair for Belk’s Business Resource Group BAILA (Belk Associate Inclusive Latino Alliance) which he co-founded in 2013 with a dedicated group of peers, and officially launched in 2014.
Prior to joining Belk Inc. in 2011, Martin held multiple executive positions with Macy’s Department Stores within their Store Planning, Design and Facilities groups. Martin was also Director of Projects for the Pavlik Design Team, which specialized in retail design and architectural services.
He and his Family have been in the Carolinas since 2009 where he has been active in the Latino Community through various volunteering and mentoring efforts. In addition to his involvement with the Latin American Chamber of Commerce of Charlotte, he is also a volunteer with Charlotte’s Junior Achievement organization and was a member of the Charlotte Chamber of Commerce’s Emerging Business Leaders (EBL Class 3) program.
Martin was born in Chicago, IL to Cuban and Salvadorian parents, but moved him to Miami, FL at an early age. He attended Florida International University’s School of Architecture with a focus in Interior Design. He holds professional credentials through NCIDQ (National Certification for Interior Design Qualification) and is a professional member of IIDA (International Interior Designers of America) and RDI (Retail Design Institute).
